Empty Chair 8.17.06

You shaped the lives of many men
Even this man
With jokes and wisdom.
Fatherly manner and grace, earned you an immortal name.

Returning the wayward
Designing, shaping, building, polishing the future
Handing out fart jokes, Maker's Mark, and smiles with persistence.
A great builder you were.
You became a keystone
The form and composition in edifices of your brethren.

Now staring at the horizon
Hearing your grasp open, your tools fall
Voice in my head, saying farewell.
Fading from this point

The cloth is lain
The sprig is planted
Words now spoken for the faithful:

Well done, good and faithful servant.
Enter now into the joy of thy Lord.

Rest in Peace, Papa Sy.
You've earned it.
