And the 'Battle' wages on.
Today's CNN headlines referenced the "battle" going on in New Orleans though from what I can see only three or four reporters have even dared to g-go there. Buying your news from MoreOver.com, Reuters, or the AP is a lot easier and less medical bills for reporters with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (Shell Shock, Battle Fatigue, pick a euphamism for putting people in positions which rob them of their humanity).
Yes, dear Bloggers, I awoke to the awesome clamour of raucous condemnation for our dear president and his inability to, i dunno, be president. Even President Bush comdemned the very government that he "runs" A fellow blogger Truly Bad Films drew an interesting comparison of promised assistance to those in need during Viet Nam.
Let me put my politics simply:
1) I DO NOT CARE WHAT YOUR POLITICAL AFFILIATION IS
2) THE GOVERNMENTS JOB IS TO MAKE PEOPLES LIVES BETTER
3) IF THE GOVERNMENT DOES NOT DO ITS JOB THEN THE PEOPLE NEED A NEW GOVERNMENT
4) PEOPLE HAVE TO ACT BECAUSE THIS IS OUR COUNTRY
Call it leftist, call it extremism. Fuck, call it exzema. But the WORST thing you can do is just call it something, and not do anything to BETTER this country for EVERYBODY.
And something to think about - how can 'reports' of rapes and killings come in when there are NO reporters around. The media wants to make you afraid of disease [Ebola/AIDS], each other [Liberals/Leftist/Righty's/Republicans/etc], ideas [Anarchy/Sedition/Paganism/Your Rights], groups [Muslims/Pagans/Communists/Minorities], etc. So when you are scared shitless of the outside world and you are sitting, crouched in your home, what the only thing left to do?? That's right - WATCH TV!!

Hi. Thanks for visiting the Hypergraphic Blog... Wonder why I haven't commented on Katrina? Because I want to criticize the looter, the robbers, the rapists, and the murderers... Sure, I will also criticize the government (local, state, and federal). But these people did not need to go out and do those attrocities, making things worse. We are quick to blame those in power, when it those with the shotguns on the street making a mess of things. Makes me want to just give them that forsaken city and let darwinism sort it out.

i agree with the mentality of attrition IF I hadn't put myself in their shoes. punish those stealing sporting goods, don't punish those who haven't had water for 4 days. put the people in jail who are shooting policemen in the head and who are fucking with the hospitals. don't punish those who are trying to survive in a place where they are not being helped after something terrible has happened. It's back to basic survival that I am not qualified to judge b/c i am not starving, i am not thirsty. IMHO.

Awesome piece.
Speaking of PTSD, two officers in New Orleans committed suicide last week. One of them, only 36 years old...Was an aid to the superintendent and a spokesperson for the department. Since then, over 200 New Orleans police officers have walked from their jobs (NY Times), most without notice to their supervisors.
We will never truly know what went on down there during those horrifying 5 days, without any assistance or resources. It sounds like it was much worse than what was reported...and I can barely see the reports.
You...A Leftist. I like the sound of that. Way better than an anarchist.
Revolution...Now...DC takeover??? Soon.
